The winger grabbed an impressive brace inside the first seven minutes to help Gareth Taylor’s side move up to second in the WSL.
Kelly lobbed the ball over Hammers stopper Mackenzie Arnold from distance after pouncing on a defensive error from the visitors.
And the England international made it two soon after, creating the space with a clever dummy before firing into the bottom corner from distance.
It was just rewards for a standout display from Kelly, who explained her thought process to the Sky cameras at full time.
“With the first goal, the goalkeeper’s position made up my mind to take it early when I saw her off her line,” she reflected.
“The second one, I saw she wasn’t set, so hit it first time and low, because we’ve been working on that.
“It was a great result for us, we want to score goals and we did just that tonight. I felt confident in front of goal so I tried my luck as much as I can, try and be a pest for the opposition and help the team.”
Our 6-2 triumph was our largest in the league this season, with Kelly perhaps the standout performer in an impressive team display.
The winger has been in brilliant form since the turn of the year, but insists she still has plenty to work on before she’s the finished article.
She said: “I’ve got so much to learn, I’m excited for the future and how much I can learn and I’m doing exactly that with these players and managers.
“My positioning in the box is really important, as a forward you want to be in the right position at the right time and I can be better on that.
“I’m pleased with the performance, but hungry to learn.”
