City ended December with a 100% record, having won both of our matches across the month.
After coming from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 at the Joie Stadium, Gareth Taylor‘s side turned on the style to claim a 4-1 victory away to Everton to sign off for 2023.
It would prove to be a vital victory, with title rivals Arsenal and Manchester United both dropping points over the weekend to ensure we finished for the festive break in second place, within touching distance of league leaders, Chelsea.
Every member of the City squad deserves a spot on our Player of the Month shortlist but only three can enter our fan vote.
So, who gets your vote from the three players listed below?
Bunny Shaw
November’s Player of the Month winner continued her fine form in December, grabbing a perfect hat-trick in our 4-1 win over Everton.
Having missed an early penalty on Merseyside, Shaw recovered to open the scoring with a delicate lob over Toffees’ stopper Courtney Brosnan.
She followed that up with a clinical low finish across goal, before heading home City’s fourth after half-time to wrap up the scoring.
The WSL’s leading scorer, the Jamaican has found the net ten times in as many appearances this season.

Jill Roord
The Dutch international has been one of City’s standout performers across the season so far, and played a starring role against Everton.
Roord completed a remarkable free-flowing move at Walton Hall Park to put Gareth Taylor‘s side three goals to the good, but her performance was about so much more.
Indeed, the 26-year-old’s energy, creativity and vision made City tick in what was one of our finest displays of the season so far.
She has six goals and three assists to her name already in 2023/24, and was also on the three-player shortlist for September’s award.

Lauren Hemp
It’s been another brilliant month for the England international, who was City’s hero in our hard-fought 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Hemp took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half, grabbing a quickfire brace to ensure we got the better of the Villans at the Joie Stadium.
She was equally influential against Everton a week later, with her penetrating run in behind the Toffees’ defence earning the visitors an early penalty on Merseyside.
The winger was on the November shortlist, can she go one better in December?
