Manchester City are delighted to announce Demi Stokes has agreed a two-year contract extension.

The deal keeps the left-back at the Club until the summer of 2023, which stretches her commitment to City to eight years from her arrival in January 2015.

Since then, Stokes has helped City lift six trophies including three Women’s FA Cups, two Continental Tyres League Cups and one Women’s Super League (WSL) title.

Earlier this season she made her 150th appearance and, having put pen to paper on the extension, the 29-year-old says she feels fortunate to have prolonged her spell at a Club which feels like home.

“I’m so pleased to have signed a new deal,” she told mancity.com.

“I don’t take any contract renewal for granted, but especially right now, I’m very grateful and fortunate to have the opportunity to continue my journey here with this amazing team.

“It’s an exciting time to be a part of Manchester City and in my mind, I didn’t want to be anywhere but here – this Club is home for me, and it was an easy decision to extend my stay.”

Stokes arrived at the Academy Stadium from South Florida Bulls as Nick Cushing’s second signing ahead of the 2015 campaign and the attacking full-back has since gone on to establish herself as an integral member of the squad.

In 2016, she helped City lift the Continental Cup and a first WSL title and eight months later she played the entire 90 minutes as we claimed our maiden FA Cup triumph at Wembley Stadium.

The 58-cap England international has played in all of City’s cup final victories, claiming a Continental Cup and FA Cup double in 2018/19 before adding a third FA Cup to her medal collection last November.

An experienced and reliable head, Gareth Taylor is pleased to have secured Stokes’ services for a further two years.

“We’re delighted to see Demi commit her immediate future to Manchester City as she’s been a big part of the Club’s successes over the past six years,” he said.

“She is a very important member of the team and we’re looking forward to continuing our journey together over the next few seasons.”

Managing Director of Manchester City Women, Gavin Makel, added: “Demi has been at the Club for a number of years now and has been integral to the successes we have had to date.

“I am delighted that she has committed her future to Manchester City as the qualities that she brings to the team overall are there to be seen by all.

“We constantly talk about having good people at the Club and Demi is certainly one of those - humble, talented and determined with an infectious personality, as well as being a fantastic role model to everyone.”
