Demi Stokes has made her 200th Manchester City appearance having come off the bench in our 2-2 draw against Leicester in the Continental Cup.

The defender becomes only the third player to reach the milestone since we became a professional outfit in January 2014.

It means Stokes now deservedly sits in the esteemed company of Club captain Steph Houghton (238) and former midfielder Keira Walsh (211).

Moving to the Academy Stadium the season after our official relaunch, the England international helped City claim a league and cup double in 2016 – a season in which we went the entire WSL campaign without tasting defeat.

That set the tone for a hugely successful period for Stokes and City, with her overall trophy haul at the Club currently stands at one WSL title, three Continental Cups and three FA Cup triumphs.

The defender’s outstanding individual performances have also been recognised over the years, with Demi being named in the PFA Team of the Year in successive seasons in 2018 and 2019.

Alongside four of her current City team-mates, she was also part of the historic England squad which became European champions in the summer of 2022.

But the 31-year-old now has another milestone to add to her impressive collection, having racked up a double century of appearances for Gareth Taylor’s side.

Reflecting on her latest milestone, she said: “Hitting 200 appearances is something I’m very proud of.”

“It’s been a long journey and I probably didn’t think I’d be here as long as I have, but I’m glad that I made the decision to come here. I feel like this is my home.

“I’m just enjoying the crazy ride, but I think we can go on to do even more great things. That’s what we’re pushing for and that’s what we want to do.”

Congratulations to Demi on reaching 200 appearances!
