Deyna Castellanos is hoping Manchester City’s rich vein of form can continue as we prepare for our return to Barclays Women’s Super League action.

Gareth Taylor’s side travel to Merseyside to face Everton, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 (UK) at Walton Hall Park following the latest international break.

Having lost to Aston Villa and Chelsea in our opening two league encounters, City are now in pursuit of a sixth consecutive win in all competitions when we lock horn with the Toffees.

Castellanos believes it was only a matter of time before things clicked for our new-look side and is confident that we have what it takes to claim another three points against a difficult opponent this weekend.

“I think right now we have improved a lot since the beginning of the season,” the Venezuela international explained.

“We feel more comfortable with each other and with what the coaching staff want.

“I think we are in a good momentum, and I hope we can take advantage of that.

“[Everton] have a really nice team, they have some really good players.

“It’s going to be a challenge for us. Playing at their ground is always difficult so hopefully we have a good game and can bring the win back to Manchester.”

Castellanos hit the headlines during the most recent international break with a stunning long-range strike against Scotland.

But while goals are an important part of the Venezuelan’s game, she has been deployed to great effect in City’s midfield three so far this season at the Academy Stadium.

The 23-year-old is quick to credit her new team-mates for their role in that smooth transition to life in Manchester.

“I have found it amazing,” she beams when asked about her time at City so far.

“All the girls are very nice and welcomed the newcomers really nicely. I’m very happy about that.

“It’s a great Club, a great team, I’m here to learn every day and to try to help the team in any way I can.”
