Former City players Lucy Bronze and Ellen White are two of the EURO 2022 winning Lionesses that have been made MBEs in the New Year Honours list.

Bronze, now at Barcelona, and White, now retired, were two of the eight City players in 2021/22 in the England squad for this summer’s tournament.

The other Lionesses recognised are captain Leah Williamson, OBE, and top scorer Beth Mead, also an MBE.

Full-back Bronze made 111 appearances in two spells at City and played all six matches at this summer’s tournament, scoring once and creating two goals.

White is the record scorer in the history of the England women’s side, with 52 strikes. She played in all six games on the Lionesses run, scoring twice.

Former City defender Jen Beattie, now at Arsenal, has also been honoured as an MBE for services to football and charity, having campaigned for breast cancer screening.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate all on their honours.
