In Sarina Wiegman’s starting 11, Hemp, Morgan and Greenwood – with the latter captaining the Lionesses – all started the game strong. A perfect harmony of defensive solidity by Morgan and Greenwood was amplified by the attacking threat Hemp posed.
And it took England just three minutes to take the lead through Alessia Russo. Grace Clinton, on her debut, headed home to double City’s lead courtesy of a Hemp cross.
Virginia Kirchberger scored with Austria’s first corner of the game before Beth Mead restored England’s two-goal lead with a wonderful left-footed strike.
England continued to dominate possession in the second half with free-flowing football that went primarily through the centre of the pitch where substitute Park looked comfortable in an England shirt.
It took Wiegman’s side a little bit of time to find the back of the Austria net again with the visitors defending England’s endless waves of attacks confidently before the 61st minute.
Russo bagged her second before substitute Jess Carter added a fifth. Mead also got her second of the match before Kirchberger scored another consolation for her nation.
Rachel Daly topped off England’s energetic performance with a seventh in added time.
They will play another international friendly on Tuesday 27 February at 17:00 (UK).
