City’s winger registered a goal and an assist in a confidence boosting victory for Sarina Wiegman’s team.
Dutch striker Lieke Martens gave the reigning European Champions a first-half lead before former City full-back Lucy Bronze got the hosts level less than ten minutes later.
Beth Mead put England ahead early in the second half, just 54 seconds after Netherlands captain Sherida Spitse had missed a penalty.
Mead’s goal was only possible thanks to electric wing play from City’s four time PFA Young Player of the Year Hemp.
Ella Toone scored a third before Hemp hit the goal of the game with a dipping volley. Mead then completed the rout with a fifth shortly before injury time.
In total, six City players were involved. Alex Greenwood, Hemp, Chloe Kelly and Keira Walsh all started the match, while Demi Stokes and Ellie Roebuck were on the bench.
England, dressed in a luminous orange-like colour usually synonymous with tonight’s opponents, started on the front foot.
They almost took the lead early on when Hemp closed down Netherlands keeper Sari van Veenendaal, only to see her block bounce agonisingly wide.
However, the visitors grew into the match and took the lead in the 22nd minute when Martens headed home from a corner.
England were back on level terms just after the half hour mark when Bronze’s miscued cross dropped inside the far post of van Veenendaal’s goal.
City’s Euro Stars: Ellie Roebuck
Kelly, who scored her first international goal against Belgium last week, was substituted for Mead at half-time.
City centre back Greenwood will have breathed a sigh of relief when Spitse hit the post with her spot kick in the 51st minute.
The spot kick had been awarded, via VAR, as a result of her foul on Danielle van de Donk.
Less than a minute later, the ball was in the back of the Netherlands net - thanks in large part to our winger Hemp.
The 21-year-old was released into space down the left and played a perfect cross that was turned in by Mead.
Our Player of the Year enjoyed a promising link up with Chelsea’s Fran Kirby throughout the evening but it was Mead who looked most likely to turn that creativity into goals.
With just over 20 minutes remaining another Hemp cross from wide on the left again reached Mead, but her effort on the stretch was saved.
Toone, a former City player now at Manchester United, added a third when her curling effort found its way through van Veenendaal and into the bottom corner.
The best moment for the bumper Yorkshire crowd was still to come, as Hemp cushioned a terrific left-footed volley into the top corner.

Her substitution brought her fine evening to an end just a few minutes later but the scoring was not yet complete, with Arsenal’s Mead putting the icing on the cake.
Walsh remained on the pitch until the end of the match while Greenwood was replaced in the 63rd minute.
The Lionesses will complete their preparation for the European Championships against Switzerland in Zurich on Thursday 30 June.
Wiegman’s team will then open the tournament against Austria at Old Trafford on Wednesday 6 July before further group stage fixtures with Norway (11 July) and Northern Ireland (15 July).
