The Norwegian, who joined City in January, opened her goalscoring account for her new Club on just her second start in sky blue, rocketing in our third goal of the game with a cross-shot in a 4-0 triumph over Leicester.
Speaking to mancity.com after the game and asked whether she had been aiming for goal, she laughed: “Yeah, we can say that!
“It’s always fun to score goals. It was a good performance. We wanted to score more goals but it was a good win and that’s the most important thing.”
The goal has been named in a shortlist of eight super strikes with Blakstad’s effort lining up against Beth Mead’s volley versus Reading, Bethany England’s drive against Leicester, Yui Hasegawa’s solo run against Reading, Jessie Fleming’s piledriver against Tottenham Hotspur, Caitlin Foord and Jordan Nobbs’ strikes against Everton and Julia Zigiotti Olme’s first-time finish against City.
Voting closes on Friday 6 May at 10:00am UK time with the winner to be announced on Saturday 7 May.
Good luck, Julie!
