Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp have been shortlisted for the FA Women’s Super League Player of the Season award.

The pair played key roles as City completed the 2021/22 campaign in third spot, earning a Champions League place with a sensational run of form in the second half of the season, which also yielded our fourth Continental Cup.

Two of the first names on Gareth Taylor‘s teamsheet, the England duo stand as our highest appearances makers this season.

Greenwood has featured in every single game, starting 36 of our 37 matches in all competitions, while Hemp has appearanced in all bar one.

Both players have contributed at the sharp end of the pitch: Greenwood tallying five goals and four assists from defence, and Hemp leading our scoring charts with 20 goals and 10 assists.

Such has been their impact, they have each been nominated for the league’s Player of the Month award throughout the season and lined up in the Club’s End of Season Awards shortlist for the Player of the Season.

Our City stars face stern competition for the Player of the Season prize with Chelsea’s Jess Carter, Sam Kerr and Guro Reiten, Arsenal’s Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema, Tottenham’s Ashleigh Neville and Manchester United’s Ella Toone.
