The three nominees for February’s Joie Player of the Month vote have been revealed.

City enjoyed a phenomenal month, winning all four of our matches in the Barclays Women’s Super League, FA Cup and Continental Cup.

A statement win against Chelsea, the reigning champions’ first defeat at Kingsmeadow in over three years, followed a gutsy FA Cup triumph away to Arsenal, City defending resolutely to preserve 1-0 victories on each occasion.

Before then, however, Gareth Taylor’s side managed to edge out a resolute Leicester side at the Joie Stadium thanks to stunning strikes from Lauren Hemp and Chloe Kelly in the WSL.

Three days later and another incredible effort from Yui Hasegawa secured our place in the Conti Cup semi-finals with another 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

City find ourselves in a brilliant position to challenge for top honours after a fantastic February, but which of the below three players really stood out for you across the month?

Alex Greenwood

The England international has led by example throughout the campaign and enjoyed an excellent February at the heart of City’s defence.

That was demonstrated in our most recent match, when the defender was named Player of the Match following our 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Our number five enjoyed a particularly intriguing battle with forward Mayra Ramirez, using all of her experience and quality to keep the dangerous Colombian at bay.

The performance was the perfect demonstration of why Greenwood is rightly considered one of the best centre-halves in the WSL.

VOTE FOR ALEX

Khiara Keating

The goalkeeper’s stock continues to rise after another brilliant month between the sticks.

Keating is leading the race for the WSL Golden Glove with seven clean sheets to her name already this season, but her performance away to Arsenal in the FA Cup perhaps stands out the most from February.

The 19-year-old made two stunning late saves at Meadow Park, thwarting both Victoria Pelova and Kim Little at full stretch to preserve the win.

Having been caught out by an aerial ball in cruel circumstances in the WSL fixture between the sides earlier this season, Keating was undoubtedly the match winner in our latest showdown with the Gunners.

VOTE FOR KHIARA

Jess Park

The City youngster came into her element in a central role across February, providing the spark we needed to breach a stubborn Leicester side at the beginning of the month.

Park’s penetrating forward run after coming off the bench was the catalyst for Lauren Hemp’s opener, and she followed that up with another fine performance against Tottenham in the Conti Cup.

The England international grabbed an assist at Brisbane Road and was once again a real standout performer in the engine room in important wins against Arsenal and Chelsea.

In the latter of those fixtures, it was Park’s energetic press which led to the game’s only goal, with the midfielder stealing possession off Erin Cuthbert before sending Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw through on goal.
