The City pair have been selected as part of the 23-player shortlist for the prestigious competition, which gets under way in their homeland and New Zealand on Thursday 20 July.
Tony Gustavsson’s side open their tournament against the Republic of Ireland on 20 July, ahead of further Group B matches with Nigeria and Canada.
However, the Matildas will play one final warm-up friendly ahead of the showpiece kicking-off when they meet France on Friday 14 July at Victoria’s Docklands Stadium.
Kennedy has made 29 appearances for the Club since her August 2021 arrival from Tottenham and has lifted one major honour with Gareth Taylor’s side (the 2022 Continental Cup).
Her inclusion in Australia’s 23-player squad represents the third nomination in her career – having featured at the 2015 and 2019 tournaments, respectively.
Kennedy, meanwhile, enjoyed a fine maiden season at City last term – scoring five goals in a term of strong individual development.
She, too, has tasted the rigours of a World Cup - having been included in the Matildas’ squad for the 2019 tournament in France.
Congratulations to Mary and Alanna on their inclusions in Australia’s World Cup squad!
