Gareth Taylor says Ellie Roebuck and Lauren Hemp are both available for selection ahead of City’s Barclays Women’s Super League clash with Reading.

Roebuck was ruled out of our 6-2 victory over West Ham United on Sunday 23 April due to a knock, with young goalkeeper Khiara Keating deputising admirably.

Hemp, meanwhile suffered a broken nose on international duty, playing with a protective mask against the Hammers.

But the boss revealed that the England duo were both in contention for our fixture with the Royals, which is available to watch live on CITY+ and Recast.

The match comes too soon for Alanna Kennedy to make her return from injury, while Sandy MacIver and Laia Aleixandri both remain long term absentees.

“We trained today. Lauren still has the mask on, so I’d assume that’ll be the same [but] she’s fine,” Taylor explained.

“Ellie [Roebuck]’s back as well, Demi [Stokes] is back as previously.

“Just at this moment in time it’s obviously Alanna [Kennedy], Sandy [MacIver], [Laia] Aleixandri who we’ve spoken about recently.

“Everyone else is fine at this moment in time.”

Victory for City this weekend would help Taylor’s side gain further ground on two of our title rivals in Chelsea are Arsenal, who don’t play until midweek due to Champions League commitments.

League leaders Manchester United, meanwhile, travel to Aston Villa this evening.

However, the boss insists that the players aren’t distracted by our rivals’ schedules or results.

He said: “The situation is the situation. If United were playing on Sunday evening and we played before them, nothing changes.

“We still need to put our points on the board and we have to earn those. The table’s a bit lopsided at the moment and teams need to catch up with games, but we need to focus on what we do.

“Nothing that happens tonight will change our objective on Sunday.”
