The City goalkeeper was replaced late on in Sunday’s 1-0 victory away to Spurs after a heavy collision with Ashleigh Neville.
However, Taylor insisted the substitution was more of a necessary precaution than any cause for concern.
The boss also suggested that 18-year-old defender Mace, who has missed the last three matchday squads, is in line to feature in some capacity at the Academy Stadium.
“Ellie is fine. I spoke to her as she came off (against Tottenham) and she was in good spirits,” Taylor explained.
“It was mainly her shoulder that she got a bit of disruption to (but) she is fine, she is quite tough and everyone on the medical side was happy with how she came through.
“We are potentially going to get Ruby Mace back to play some part.
“That helps because we’ve been pretty light in defensive numbers and Ruby has been good in that effect for us, playing in full back and central areas.
“Hopefully we’ll get her back and outside of that everyone else is pretty good.”
The City boss also provided an update on the continued recovery of midfielder Vicky Losada ahead of our clash with Reading.
Taylor is delighted with the Spaniard’s current progress, her last appearance coming in our 4-1 Manchester derby triumph, but admitted the next sequence of fixtures ahead of the international break will likely come too soon for her to return.
He said: “She is doing okay, she was in a brace for a period. She has got another few days in that and then she will start to step up her rehab.
“The messages from the medics are really positive. They anticipated it was something that could have kept her out for slightly longer.
“We’re hoping to potentially get her back for the international break, but we will have to see. There are various markers the players need to hit in their rehab.”
Victory against the Royals would see City leapfrog Spurs into fourth place and, depending on Manchester United’s result away to West Ham, could move us to within two points of the WSL’s Champions League places with a game in hand.
However, with Reading’s prospects of a European spot still alive and kicking, Taylor is braced for a tough test at the Academy Stadium.
The City boss also insisted that the players’ sole focus is on what we can control, rather than on results elsewhere.
“Of course (Reading can still qualify for Europe). These teams, whether they have seven or eight games left, there is quite a lot going on. Everyone will have different objectives,” he explained.
“But for us it is about us, maintaining the good work from the weekend and backing it up with another performance.
“It’s just about going out and playing our way and hopefully being successful in that. Where it moves us to doesn’t matter.
“We know getting three points on the board is conducive to being successful.
“We are trying to focus on each game rather than looking too far ahead.”
