Goals from Jill Roord, Lauren Hemp and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw saw the visitors impressively fight back from a goal down to earn three deserved points at Old Trafford.
The victory over Marc Skinner’s side saw the Blues leapfrog our city rivals to third in the league table and bounce back from two successive defeats.
Now, the boss wants to see his side build on the famous victory throughout the term.
“It’s always about momentum and that’s important in football but sometimes you don’t get it. Reaction after a negative was the case in the United game,” he explained.
“It was three points and an important one but it went beyond that. I got home after the game and it wasn’t necessarily the enormity but it was bigger than three points.
“First derby at Old Trafford in front of a big crowd on TV. We showed what we were about, played exciting high pressure football, showed real quality at times.
“Celebration after was great and we try to show humility but there was more of an outpouring because it felt like more than three points.
“It was only three points but psychologically it had a big impact for us and we have to try and use that.”
Next up for City is a meeting with Spurs at the Joie Stadium on Sunday 26 November, with kick-off scheduled for 18:45 (UK).
The Londoners sit in fifth place in the table, but there’s just one point separating the sides heading into the clash.
And Taylor is fully aware of the threat Robert Vilahamn’s side possess.
He added: “[They have a] new coach, quite a few new players as well.
“They’re adapting to a few little things and processes but in general have drawn a few games, lost the first game against Chelsea, but got some wins too.
“[They’ve] made a step forward in this early period. Sometimes you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes but it’s a big club and rightly so they should try to get the best for their women’s team as well.”
