Shaw scored two – including a last-gasp winner - against Brighton & Hove Albion, taking her tally to an astonishing 26 goals this term.
The record had previously been held by Nikita Parris, who struck 24 goals during the 2018/19 campaign.
Taylor was thrilled for the Jamaican striker, hailing the achievement as ‘remarkable’.
He said: “I’m super proud of Bunny and all the players are.
“She understands the support and help she gets here to allow her to be herself.
“I think what she’s done is remarkable, really - to go from the first game of the season scoring and not really have a dry spell at all, maybe a couple of games.
“She’s continued to score goals. She’s certainly a proven goalscorer, but it’s the types of goals she’s getting now and everything else she brings to us in the games.
“Her hold up play is phenomenal.
“I think that’s nine in three games now, which is crazy.
“I felt their keeper was making save after save from her and the one she did get was through the defender’s legs which was a great finish.
“People probably think there’s an element of luck to that but Bunny does that repeatedly and she’s done that all season.”
Discussing the match overall, Taylor was incredibly happy with the desire and determination on show from his players throughout the 90 minutes.
He was obviously delighted with the three points but stressed that he’d have been proud of their performance even if it had finished all-square.
He continued: “We started really well. We scored a really good goal. Then we lost a little bit of control.
“I felt we were a bit anxious in our play midway through the first half. Usually when that happens, we end up giving a chance away and they scored a good goal, although a poor goal from our side of things.
“We spoke at half-time and obviously there was frustration there because we’d got ourselves into a good position.
“These games are not easy when Brighton come out and engage and press the way that they did.
“They made it difficult but I thought we were great second half. We mixed our game up a little bit and their keeper made save after save.
“I still would have been proud of the team if we’d have come away with a 1-1.
“But I think the resilience, attitude and body language of the players to continue in the 88th minute the way they did – and for Bunny to get that goal – it was fantastic.”
There are now just seven games remaining as we keep ourselves in the title hunt in third, just three points off Chelsea on the summit, the Blues beating second place Manchester United in the day’s early game.
Taylor is keeping his feet on the ground and taking it game-by-game for the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.
He added: “There are no easy games – we’ve got seven left – and we have some good games to play.
“For us, it’s about chalking them off.
“It’s a long way to come here for us from Manchester all the way down. The players have been class in that respect and we’ve been on our travels quite a bit recently and again we’ve things to work on for sure and there’s elements of our play that could be better.
“But the way we won it and the celebrations were fantastic.”
