Having fallen to a fourth defeat in our last five games with a 2-0 reverse at home to West Ham, City sit ninth in the FA Women’s Super League table – already nine points behind table-topping Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur and six behind Champions Chelsea.
The Club had never before lost three successive league defeats in a row since joining the WSL and Taylor admitted that although that stat has hurt the players, the squad must be honest about where Sunday’s game was lost.

“I’m not feeling great if I’m honest,” he conceded. “We are in a tough moment, we really are.
“Regardless of injuries and player availability, I thought we had enough to win the game and we didn’t.
“It was one of those games where everything went against us. We dominated the first half – we had numerous chances.
“West Ham are improving and they made it really difficult in the second half.
“I suppose the only consolation is the amount of opportunities we had – the goalkeeper had a lot of saves to make so we had final actions rather than moments.
“It will get better, it will. We have to take responsibility and finish our chances off.
“If you can’t finish your chances, you can’t give away even one chance. We did and they scored.
“That makes the job really difficult then. We have to score goals and not concede – it sounds simple but that’s it. We have to score in those moments.
“We know we need to be more potent in the final third. We scored six in the second half on Wednesday [against Leicester].
“In the second half, we were off-the-cuff in our forward play. We didn’t create as much as we wanted to but we’ll keep calm and follow the process, making sure we’re improving in the final third.
“The game never changes – in every league, up and down the country, in any country, you have to score goals and keep them out.
“We have to step up and take the opportunities when they arrive.”
City’s next encounter will see the first Manchester Derby of the season unfold on Saturday.
With more than just three points riding on the game at Leigh Sports Village, Taylor was asked whether the pressure has intensified.
“There’s no pressure,” he replied. “It’s a big game – a Derby game away from home – and I can’t wait.
“We’ll reflect and review. I have to pick the players up and get them ready. I can’t say what that looks like.

“We’ll come back together, look to get conversations going and see how the players are feeling.
“There’s a low feeling at the moment and we need to turn that around and get ready for another game.
“We know we’re capable. We need to make sure we stick to our way of playing and follow the process, allowing us to arrive there.
“It doesn’t look that easy at the moment but we’re still alive. We’re up against it and everything is going against us but we won’t get any help – we have to step up and do it ourselves.
“We’re always fighting all the way. We’d spoken about getting wins on the board. At the moment, we’re not doing that but our full focus is on the next game.”
