City won all three of our league matches across March, getting the better of Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton and Chelsea.
In doing so, we extended our unbeaten WSL run to 14 matches by the end of the month, a record which stretched back to September.
Taylor’s influence on that success saw him claim the Manager of the Month, having also earned the accolade in February.
A Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw hat-trick helped City come from behind against Spurs to grab a 3-1 victory at the Academy Stadium in a fixture where Taylor celebrated his 100th match in charge.
Seven days later, another brace from Shaw helped us claim a hard-fought 2-1 win at Brighton, before we rounded off the month with a 2-0 victory over reigning champions Chelsea.
First half goals from Filippa Angeldahl and Lauren Hemp were enough to see City over the line against Emma Hayes’ side, becoming the first side to prevent the Londoners from scoring this season.
That victory also ensured we finished with a 100% winning record in March; the second successive month in which we achieved this feat.
Taylor fended off sizeable competition from Aston Villa boss Carla Ward and Arsenal’s Jonas Eidevall to win the award.
Speaking about being named Manager of the Month, he said: “I’m really pleased to have won this award for a second month in a row.
“I think winning it back-to-back shows where we’ve come, the improvements in the team as well and the run we have been on.
“I’m at the head of it, in the good times and the bad times, but I have to say the players are the main reason why I’m able to accept these awards, as well as our fantastic team of staff – it’s a collective effort all round.
“We have five games left and some tough challenges in there, but we are right in amongst it.
“We need to continue and put together another run similar to what we’ve just done. Going all the way unbeaten from the end of September to early April is a great effort by everyone but the challenge never stops, and I think it’s something to look forward to.
“We will just enjoy the run-in and see where it takes us.”
Congratulations to Gareth on being named Manager of the Month!
