Gareth Taylor has been amazed by the speed of Yui Hasegawa's adaptation to her new team-mates and City’s style of play.

The midfielder joined the Club from West Ham United in September 2022 and made a goalscoring debut in our 4-0 triumph over Leicester last week.

And the Japanese international followed that up with another convincing display in City’s 3-0 victory away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Reflecting on Hasegawa’s performance, Taylor says her swift transition to life at the Academy Stadium has been crucial in our recent performances.

He said: “I thought Yui Hasegawa was great again.

“The two game she’s played, it’s like she’s been playing for us for the last five or ten years, there’s a real maturity to her play.

“I don’t think you’re ever at your best, it’s always constant evolution with your performances.

“Most coaches will tell you that you never have the perfect game. There’ll be bits we review and look at, but we also need to look at what we did really well.

“I’ve always said this team just needs a bit of time.”

City were full value for the three points, registering 20 shots on the Spurs goal to the hosts’ three as well as enjoying 67% possession.

And Taylor hailed his side’s bravery on the ball and maturity to withstand pressure from the hosts when off it.

“It was a really good performance from the girls,” he added.

“We were brave in our play and broke down their pressure.

“They had some decent pressure at the top end with their front three, but once we found our rhythm, I thought there was only one team that was going to win it.”
