Hayley Raso says she loves the experience of playing in big games for City such as this weekend's Barclay's Women's Super League clash against Manchester United.

In our penultimate game of the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Super League season, Gareth Taylor’s side travel to the Leigh Sports Village on Sunday 21 May, with kick-off scheduled for 18:45 (UK).

Sunday’s Manchester derby could prove pivotal for both teams with the hosts top of the table and looking to secure Champions League football for the first time while City also continue to push for a spot in the top three.

And Raso believes the importance of the game for both sides will make this weekend’s match even more thrilling.

“It will be a massive game,” began Raso. “The derby is already huge, that’s what I love about being here, being able to play in these massive games.

“The one earlier in the season was big, we obviously played at the Etihad. It was my first time playing there and it was such a big game, I absolutely love it.

“The rivalry between the two teams is so huge that every time you go into that game, you know it’s going to be touch, physical, a fight and a graft.

“I think more so at the end of the season, I think it will put a lot more on that game and there will be a lot more riding on it.”

In front of a record Women’s crowd for the club of 44,259 supporters, Laura Coombs’ second half header cancelled out Leah Galton’s opener in the previous encounter between the sides.

Raso came off the bench on that occasion to help City continue our unbeaten run which went on for another seven league games.

Since then, City have gone on to get wins against WSL heavyweights Chelsea and Arsenal.

And the Australian international credited City’s consistency and preparation that goes into our game plans that means we will be a difficult test for Manchester United.

“We go into every game determined to win and wanting to win,” explained Raso. “We follow our game plan and what we want to do in order to win those games, but I think it will come down to it and it will be a massive game in the area as we do need to get the points.

“It will be the same as every other week where we’ve focused on doing what we need to do to win that game.”
