The numbers behind Manchester City's emphatic WSL win at Old Trafford.

Andrée Jeglertz’s side cruised to a 3-0 victory over Manchester United thanks to a Vivianne Miedema brace and Kerstin Casparij strike.

The Blues were in control from the get-go, and took another huge step towards the WSL title in the process with a statement victory.

Check out some of the impressive stats to come from the win below...

Free-flowing football

City’s second and third goals were a textbook example of our ability to break forward with devastating pace on the counter attack.

When Miedema headed home to make it 2-0, she completed a breath-taking move which had started in our own area and involved eight different outfield players.

There’d been just 30 seconds between City winning possession and Miedema scoring, with six of the 12 passes in the sequence coming with a first touch.

It was a similar story with our third, with just 37 seconds between Jade Rose taking a short goal kick and Casparij firing home at the other end.

Only Alex Greenwood, Rebecca Knaak and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw didn’t touch the ball in the move.

Double dutch

City’s two Netherlands internationals were the architects behind our win over Manchester United, with Miedema grabbing a brace and Caspaij adding one goal and one assist.

For Viv, that means she’s now become the first player in WSL history to score 10+ goals in five different seasons, and only Shaw has found the net more times than her in 2025/26.

Casparij, meanwhile, has grabbed four goal involvements in two Manchester derbies this season, and continues to lead the way in the WSL in terms of assists with seven.

Lauren Hemp (6), Miedema and Kerolin (both 5) make up the top four in that metric, just to outline City’s attacking dominance in 2025/26.

Heady Heights

For all of City’s fluid football this season, we’ve also been deadly from set pieces.

Of our 55 goals in the WSL, 12 have come from corners, equalling the record for the most in a single campaign in the top flight.

Our first at Old Trafford came from another, as Miedema met Greenwood’s cross to glance home through a crowd of bodies.

We’ve also scored 15 headed goals this season - another league high - with Miedema adding two more to the tally against United.

Manchester is Blue

Two wins, six goals scored and zero conceded - 2025/26 has been an excellent campaign for City when it comes to the Manchester derby.

However, it’s the manner of how we’ve also kept our rivals at bay which also deserves a mention.

Only City and Arsenal have scored more than United this season, yet we’ve limited them to just two shots on target across 180 minutes of football when we’ve faced them.

At Old Trafford, the Blues also asserted our control over proceedings with some precise, patient passing play.

Indeed, City ended the contest with 62.3% possession, and 34 touches in the United box compared to the hosts’ 14 in ours.
