In our first WSL fixture of the 2024/25 season, the score was tied at 1-1 after Vivianne Miedema’s first league goal for the Club cancelled out Frida Maanum’s opening strike.
Gareth Taylor’s team pushed for a second at the Emirates. Lauren Hemp’s cross from the right was initially headed clear but only to the edge of the box.
And waiting patiently was Park who took one touch to get the ball under her spell before her half volley flew towards the top left corner. The ball clipped the under side of the crossbar before bouncing over the line to send the travelling City fans wild.
The game went on to end in a draw with a late Beth Mead strike seeing the points shared.
It was Park’s third goal of the campaign after a brace in City’s away leg triumph over Paris FC in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round.
Her three goals and one assist in all competitions also saw her voted as the Etihad Player of the Month for September, claiming around 6,000 of the votes. Her attacking threat, energy and overall spirit a clear fan favourite as she continues to become a vital player in Taylor’s squad.
Congratulations to Jess on her award!
