Jess Park says the City supporters have a vital role to play in our Etihad Stadium clash with Manchester United.

Gareth Taylor’s side face our cross-city rivals on Saturday 23 March in the Barclays Women’s Super League, with kick-off set for 12:30 (UK).

A record 44,259 supporters watched the sides play out an exciting 1-1 draw at the Etihad in last season’s clash, with another bumper crowd expected in the latest derby showdown.

And Park has highlighted the positive impact that the City fans have on her and her team-mates, helping them raise their game to new levels.

“I think they’re a massive part of the game,” the midfielder said when asked about the home fans’ influence.

“The fans give us momentum. They give us confidence when they’re loud and it feels good.

“We want to play our best football and when they’re on top of us and being really supportive and helpful, I think it helps us play well.”

Park enjoyed a successful loan spell at fellow WSL side Everton across 2022/23, meaning she missed last season’s showpiece occasion at the Etihad.

As a City fan herself, she’s relishing the prospect of facing United there this time around.

She added: “It’s a massive game, it always is. We’re focused and we always want to win so we’re going to try out best to do that.
