The Jamaican came out on top in a three-player shortlist with Lauren Hemp and Alex Greenwood, with over 15,000 votes cast across the entire competition.
For Shaw to emulate her incredible 2022/23 campaign, in which she found the net a record 31 times, would’ve been a tall order, but the forward has once again taken her game to new heights.
Not only did she become the Club’s record goalscorer in March, but her 21 goals in just 18 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances also earned her the Golden Boot.
Had her season not been cut short with a foot injury in April, she surely would have broken the league’s single-season goal record, which stands at 22.
She’s the first City player to win the prestigious award and did so with an incredible average of a goal every 66 minutes in the league.
With strikes in both Manchester derbies – the second of which saw her break City’s goal record – and in a 1-0 win at Chelsea in February, the Jamaican also stepped up in the big moments for Gareth Taylor’s side.
She ended the campaign with 22 goals and five assists from 25 appearances, including three hat-tricks in the space of four WSL matches between November and January.
Shaw’s exploits have already earned individual acclaim elsewhere, with the 27-year-old also named the FWA Footballer of the Year and WSL Player of the Season.
But the Joie Player of the Season prize, her second in a row, now joins that list for a forward who it’s easy to run out of superlatives for.
Congratulations to Bunny on her remarkable achievement and thank you to everyone who voted!
