KHADIJA ‘BUNNY’ SHAW
Although her season was cut short due to a foot injury, Shaw enjoyed yet another record-breaking term in front of goal.
Following her strike in our superb 3-1 win over Manchester United in March, she became our all-time leading women’s goalscorer.
She has since extended that tally to 72 goals in all competitions in just 84 games by netting 22 goals in 25 games in 2023/24.
What’s more, she levelled Vivianne Miedema’s record the most hat-tricks in the competition with five trebles, three of which came this term.
The first came in our emphatic 7-0 win over Spurs at the Joie Stadium before she struck three in respective wins over Everton and Liverpool.
Bunny claimed the Joie Player of the Month awards for November and December before being nominated for March’s prize.
With two matches remaining in 2023/24, she is also leading the WSL’s goalscoring chart with 21 – eight clear of second placed Lauren James (Chelsea) and Brighton’s Elisabeth Terland who are tied on 13.
LAUREN HEMP
Fresh from penning a contract extension with the Club until 2027, Lauren Hemp provided an assist for Mary Fowler’s second strike in our 4-0 win at Bristol City.
That represented the England international’s seventh in the WSL this term and put her top among her league colleagues for the metric.
Alongside her sparkling record of supplying team-mates, she has also netted nine league goals making her City’s second highest league goalscorer – only behind Bunny.
And in all competitions in 2023/24, she has scored 10 goals and registered eight assists.
The winger often dazzles with the ball at her feet and this is perfectly reflected in her 32 completed WSL dribbles this term, which is joint fourth across the division and first within our ranks.
She’s also stepped up when it’s really mattered for City, grabbing a brace in a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aston Villa in December, before sparking a late triumph against Leicester with an outrageous scorpion kick finish late on.
Thanks to her 27 outings this term, she is our sixth highest appearance holder with 158 and she is our current third highest scorer with 64.
ALEX GREENWOOD
Alex Greenwood has continued to showcase her credentials as one of the best central defenders in world football across 2023/24.
During her 25 appearances in all competitions this term – and 18 in the league – she has been a key member of the division’s strongest defence so far.
Across Gareth Taylor’s side’s 20 WSL assignments this campaign, we have conceded only 12 goals, the lowest across the competition, and maintained nine clean sheets.
What’s more, the England international has provided three assists in all competition as we pursue a second-ever league title at the business end of the season.
The centre-back scored her first goal with a powerful header in our 4-0 win at Bristol City in our latest league assignment which moved us six points clear at the league’s summit.
At the other end though she has led the team by example, putting in a particularly outstanding performance away to Chelsea, as we became the first away side to win at Kingsmeadow in over three years back in February.
