Speaking about her move, she said: “I’m overjoyed –I have no words to describe how happy I am to be a Manchester City player and I can’t wait to play for this beautiful Club.

“I felt like the whole club is a family and the perfect fit for me – I immediately got such a good feeling about the place and it was a no brainer for me.

“Having players feeling at home at a club is a huge strength for a team and if you want to be competing and winning titles, you have to have that unity, so that was very important to me.

“I’m a modern right wing-back and I feel as though I’ll fit into the Manchester City style very well, which makes this move the perfect one.”

A highly rated young talent who has spent the entirety of her career to date in her homeland of the Netherlands, the versatile defender started her career with Heerenveen and made her senior debut at the age of 15.

Earning herself a move to VV Alkmaar in 2017 where she spent a season with the club, she returned to Heerenveen and enjoyed another two campaigns with the club before putting pen to paper with FC Twente in 2020.

A regular for the Netherlands’ youth teams throughout her teenage years, Casparij earned her first senior cap in October 2021as a late substitute against Cyprus and has since made 12 more appearances to date, including four during UEFA Women’s EURO 2022.

Head Coach Gareth Taylor added: “Kerstin is a very gifted young player and we’re so pleased to have been able to add her to our ranks.

“The fact that she made her senior debut at the age of 15 shows just what a talent she is and what high regard she has been held in by her previous clubs.

“She has a real infectious and positive personality too and we’re very much looking forward to integrating her into the rest of the squad and seeing her develop on the pitch.”
