Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s unrivalled goal tally across 2023/24 has seen her claim the Barclays Women’s Super League Golden Boot.

The Jamaican found the net a remarkable 21 times in just 18 WSL appearances, more than any other player in the English top flight.

In doing so, she become the first City player to claim the prize across our ten seasons as a professional side in the WSL.

Shaw has averaged a goal every 66 minutes in the league, at a rate of 1.36 per 90 minutes.

Having made history with the most goals across a single season for our Women’s team in 2022/23, Shaw reached another incredible landmark in March 2024 when she overtook Georgia Stanway as the Club’s record goalscorer.

In front of over 40,000 supporters at the Etihad Stadium, the forward confidently slotted home City’s third of the afternoon for her 16th WSL goal of the season, in just her 15th game.

Shaw grabbed her first league strikes of 2023/24 with a headed brace against Bristol City in October 2023 and, after finding the net in a 3-1 win at Old Trafford one month later, the Jamaican never looked back.

Indeed, up until have her season cut short through a foot injury in April, the forward had bagged 18 goals in the next 12 WSL matches for City.

That form in front of goal included a remarkable spell of three hat-tricks in four appearances between November and January, with the Jamaican claiming trebles against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Liverpool.

Unsurprisingly, other accolades have followed for Shaw, with the number 21 also named the FWA Football of the Year and the WSL Player of the Year.

Now she has another individual prize to add to the collection.

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Bunny on yet another remarkable achievement.
