Congratulations to Bunny Shaw, who has broken Manchester City’s women’s goal record.

The clinical striker broke Georgia Stanway’s record with City’s third goal in our Manchester derby at the Etihad on Saturday 23 March.

Shaw was played through on goal by Jess Park and pulled off a composed finish under pressure to extend City’s lead just under two minutes into the second half.

In doing so, the Jamaican surpassed Stanway’s tally of 67, which she reached in 186 appearances between 2015 and 2022.

Shaw reached her current total in a remarkable 81 matches in just her third full season at the Club, having already broken numerous goalscoring records.

The forward’s debut season at City ended with 19 goals from 29 appearances, but our number 21 really came into her element the following campaign.

Indeed, the Jamaican finished the season with 31 strikes in all competitions, surpassing Nikita Parris’ record for the most goals across a single season by mid-March.

She achieved that incredible feat in just 30 matches, with a place in the PFA WSL Team of the Year following in August 2023.

Things have continued apace in the current campaign, with Shaw’s tally now standing at 68 goals in 82 games.

In December 2023, she became the first player in WSL history to score three hat-tricks across a calendar year, with her overall tally of eight trebles in all competitions across her time at City also a record.

Unsurprisingly, she currently leads the scoring charts for both the WSL and at City this season and is sure to play a major role in any success we have over the remainder of the campaign.

Congratulations to Bunny on yet another remarkable achievement!
