Khiara Keating helped England Under-19s begin the Algarve Cup with a 2-1 victory over Norway.
The stopper played the full 90 minutes for Emma Coates’ side, with an 86th-minute strike from Lucia Kendall proving decisive in Spain.
The two teams couldn’t be separated in the first half, but Freya Godfrey’s strike soon after the restart put the young Lionesses ahead.
But Norway responded defiantly, drawing level just before the hour through Signe Gaupset.
It looked like the match would finish level at the Stadium Vila Real de Santo Antonio, but Kendall’s late intervention was enough to hand Keating and co. victory.
The young Lionesses are back in action on Monday 14 November when they face the Netherlands in a 13:00 (UK) kick-off.
