Teenage goalkeeper Khiara Keating has signed the first professional contract of her career.

The 18-year-old has penned a two-year deal with Manchester City, which keeps her at the Academy Stadium until the summer of 2024.

Keating, who was born a stone’s throw from the City Football Academy in nearby Ardwick, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season, making her first team debut in January and going on to add a further four appearances to her name.

Widely regarded as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the English game, she began her career as a striker and was initially scouted by Manchester United.

It was there that she completed the switch to goalkeeper and that paved the way for her to join City in 2015, where she has progressed through the youth ranks to become part of Gareth Taylor‘s senior squad.
