Laura Coombs says she’ll be watching replays of her wondergoal over and over!

The midfielder netted a sensational strike against her former Club, opening the scoring against Liverpool to set City on our way to three points in the Continental Cup.

Controlling former Red Gemma Bonner’s floated pass beautifully with the outside of her foot, Coombs let the ball bounce before dipping a lovely strike past Rylee Foster and into the top corner.

Naturally, she was delighted – as was evident in the celebrations, as the squad rushed over to congratulate her!

“I’ll be watching that back a few times!” she smiled. “I’m really happy and proud of it!”

Riding the crest of the wave from Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup win at Wembley, City produced a professional and clinical display to clinch our second win of two in the Conti Cup Group C.

Coombs hailed another fine team performance, adding she hopes the weekend’s triumph will springboard the Club to further silverware.

“We were really happy on Sunday,” she reflected. “We’d had a mixed start but hopefully, that will kickstart our season.

“The performances have been there but we’ve just been lacking goals at times.

“It was a great performance against Everton – they took us all the way – so we were super happy to get the first trophy of the season.

“Credit to the girls who played on Sunday – their fitness levels were really good and carried us through.

“The goals are starting to come now and I fully believe we can kick on after our FA Cup win and do really good things.

“100%, we want every trophy we can get.

“We go into every competition to win it so there’s no letting off.”
