Etihad domination
Hemp delivered a masterclass in our 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium in November 2024.
Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw grabbed a hat-trick on the night, with the winger setting up two of the Jamaican’s strikes, while also teeing up Jill Roord.
The first was a pinpoint cross from the left, carving out the space to dink the ball into the box following quick trickery.
It allowed Shaw to head home on of her aerial goals for the Club to make it two to the good.
Her second assist of the afternoon saw her set up Jill Roord with a poke towards the Dutch international.
The final one of the afternoon was a low-driven, dangerous ball that flashed across the face of the Spurs box before Shaw tapped home at the back post.
Dancing feet
Aged 20 at the time and in her third season at City, Hemp was already a staple in the squad and once again showed she could face tough challenges head on.
As the clock quickly approached the 87th minute in our WSL clash with Reading in 2020/21, the Blues were being held to a 0-0 draw until Hemp picked up possession and quickly drove at the opposition’s goal.
She danced around not one, not two, not three but four Reading bodies to reach the by-line, before squaring for Chloe Kelly to secure a last-gaps win.
The winger was rightfully mobbed by her team-mates, including Kelly, for a moment of individual brilliance.
Derby delight
It’s fair to say Hemp has regularly stepped up in derby day fixtures, and has scored some incredible goals in them too!
The two that spring to mind are her curling effort in 2023/24 at Old Trafford, sending the away end into a frenzy as City went on to claim a thrilling 3-1 over our cross-city rivals.
More recently, Hemp’s rocket at the Etihad in 2025/26 topped off an incredible 3-0 win in which we saw arguably one of our finest first half performances by the Blues.

Flicks and tricks
In 2023/24, City welcomed Leicester to the Joie Stadium in what turned out to be an extremely difficult match-up.
It took a moment of magic to breach the Foxes’ stubborn defence from non other than Hemp.
With 82 minutes on the clock, Shaw whipped in a dangerous ball from the right-hand side of the Leicester box.
Hemp had checked her run to get back into an onside position and, in a split second, adapted quickly to launch an audacious backheel into the net.
Another moment of beautiful invention, skill and confidence from the winger, with City going on to win 2-0.
Pressing from the front
Away from goals and assists, a vital aspect to a winger’s game is their tenacity and desire to press the opposition.
Hemp has those qualities in abundance, and one of her most impressive outings at the Joie saw her cause Barcelona a swathe of difficulties in an October 2024 Champions League match-up.
The winger’s six tackles were the most across the entirety of Champions League Matchweek One, and we went on to beat the Spanish giants 2-0 at the Joie Stadium.
Up for it
In former boss Nick Cushing’s final game at the helm during City’s 2019/20 season, the Blues were leading 1-0 against Arsenal, but with the Gunners piling on the pressure to draw level.
Just five minutes into the second half, though, City were provided with a bit of breathing room thanks to a fantastic Hemp header, with the winger ghosting in at the far post and looping Keira Walsh’s header into the top corner.
It put the game out of reach for the visitors as City gave Cushing the perfect send-off with a 2-1 win.
Sweet treat
On the final day of the 2022/23 campaign, City hosted the Toffees at the Joie.
We ran out with a 3-2 win over Everton, with Hemp turning from provider for our first of the afternoon to goalscorer for our second.
After switching flanks on the hour, Hemp drove towards the Everton box, and as she surpassed the 18-yard line she cut onto her left foot and curled a sublime left-footed finish goal bound with the ball kissing the underside of the crossbar as it made the opponent’s net bulge.
