Lauren Hemp has been named Etihad Player of the Month for September.

The winger fought off the sizeable challenge of Aoba Fujino and Laura Blindkilde Brown to take the prize thanks to your votes.

City have started the new season with a 100% record in the WSL and remain unbeaten in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and Hemp’s quality performances have been key to that success.

She finished September with three goal involvements in four matches, and has also been shortlisted for the WSL’s Player of the Month prize.

Having helped the Blues beat Birmingham City in our opening match, Hemp was our standout performer in a 4-1 win over Aston Villa the following week.

Setting up Bunny Shaw for our third of the afternoon, she was also unlucky to see our fourth go down as an own goal after her effort took a deflection en route to the Villa net.

There was no doubt around her brace against Liverpool in our next fixture though, with Hemp once again taking centre stage as City fought back to win 4-2.

The 26-year-old opened the scoring at the Joie Stadium early on, and also set the seal on our victory with a stoppage time strike.

Another excellent display followed in Europe, as Hemp helped City come from two goals down to earn a point against Bayern Munich in our first Champions League clash of the campaign soon after.

Everyone at City would like to congratulate Lauren on being named Etihad Player of the Month for September!
