Lauren Hemp says she was almost overcome with emotion when walking out to lift the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League title.

Andrée Jeglertz’s side’s status as champions of England was confirmed 10 days before our final day trip to West Ham, but following our 4-1 win at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, we got our hands on the major trophy.

Jade Rose opened the scoring in the capital before a second-half brace from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Laura Coombs’ sweet volley sealed the success which meant the Blues matched our best-ever top-flight tally as the curtain fell on the campaign.

Hemp started the win in London, but was substituted on 28 minutes after suffering a minor injury.

But the England international said nothing was keeping her from celebrating the historic triumph with her teammates.

“I was annoyed to go down in the first 15 minutes, I hurt my ankle, but there was no way I wasn’t celebrating that,” she declared.

“I was just on one leg hobbling, but honestly I can’t believe it.

“This group are so special. It actually brought a tear to my eye when I was walking up there. We’ve waited so long for this and it’s incredible to get our hands on the trophy.”

City topped the WSL table with 55 points, four more than second-placed Arsenal – and Jeglertz’s team scored the most goals with a staggering 62 across 22 outings.

Hemp created the most chances of any player throughout the division and registered six top-flight assists in 2025/26.

For the skilful winger, she has hailed the Blues’ team ethic which drove us onto the title.

She added: “The togetherness in this team is something else. Something I’ve never been a part of before.

“It’s so special and nice to see smiles on everyone’s faces. Everyone has done their bit for this team to win this trophy and it’s so special to do it with this group.

“I’m really proud, but it wouldn’t be for the team who have helped me create all these chances. There’s so much to put in again for next season.

“Hopefully we can retain the title, but for now, we’ll enjoy it.”
