Lauren Hemp says she cannot wait to step foot onto the Wembley grass once more in Sunday’s FA Cup Final.

The winger – City’s top scorer for 2021/22 with 20 goals – has fond memories of playing at the iconic national stadium, having found the net in our 2019 FA Cup triumph, coming off the bench in our 3-0 win over West Ham to cap another historic day for the Club.

Ahead of this weekend’s eagerly-awaited showpiece against Chelsea, the three-time PFA Young Player of the Year says she is relishing the opportunity to grace the hallowed turf once again and create more special moments to treasure forever.

“There are the games everyone wants to be involved in,” she told mancity.com.

“The FA Cup Final is a massive occasion. It’s one I’ve been part of before and those are the moments you remember when you look back on your career.

“It’s really exciting. We’re all in a good place, feeling really confident. We’re coming into the game in good form off the back of a lot of wins, and we’re training really hard to be ready for it.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to lift another trophy and hopefully get one up on Chelsea again. We can’t wait.”

This will be the fifth meeting between the two sides this season with the pair having already locked horns in the 2020/21 FA Cup, Continental Cup and twice in the league.

The last encounter proved an unforgettable one, as City came from behind to defeat Emma Hayes’ side in the Continental Cup Final in March.

Player of the Year nominee Hemp asserts her side can take plenty of inspiration from that memorable night at Plough Lane, in which Taylor’s side produced a stunning second half performance to turn the game on its head, thanks to a Caroline Weir brace and Ellen White strike.

“We learned a lot,” she reflected. “We went 1-0 down in the first half so that was pretty unfortunate but we showed fight and resilience to come back in the second half and beat them the way we did.

“It’s important to take that into this game. Sometimes in games this season, it has been the second half where we’ve really pushed on for goals.

“There’s a lot we can take from that game but hopefully this one will be a little bit easier!”
