The winger is set to make her 200th appearance for the Club in our WSL opener against Birmingham City, becoming only the fourth player in our history to reach the milestone.
Our longest serving current player, she’s won six major honours in her seven full seasons in Manchester after joining from Bristol City in May 2018.
Already making a name for herself with the Robins before joining City, Hemp has gone on to become one of the WSL’s most influential wide players almost a decade on from her debut in April 2017.
Football is, of course, about far more than numbers, but Lauren’s statistics reinforces her position as one of the finest attackers in WSL history…
All-time WSL
Despite only turning 26 in August, Hemp already tops the charts in several key attacking metrics across the WSL.
No player has created more open play chances in the competition’s history (308), while she also ranks joint-first for crosses (157), both crucial assets of a top winger.
But one of Hemp’s greatest assets is what she also brings off the ball, with her tireless energy and tactical intelligence also making her a key defensive figure for City.
And that quality is emphasised by the fact that she’s won possession 196 times in the final third across her WSL career to date – again the joint-most since WSL records began.
In terms of completed dribbles, Hemp is third in the all-time list, while only Beth Mead has registered more assists in the competition’s history.
The winger is also finely poised on 99 goals and assists and would become only the seventh player in the WSL to reach a century when she next contributes to a City strike.
Since Hemp’s debut
Lauren made her WSL debut for Bristol City in April 2017 and has gone on to feature 152 times ahead of her 200th appearance.
That’s the seventh-most in the WSL since the winger’s maiden appearance, while she also ranks fourth for starts and fifth for total minutes.
Despite her tireless work rate on and off the ball, it’s rare for Hemp not to complete 90 minutes, despite also winning the third-most fouls in the final third and seventh overall since April 2017.
She’s completed more dribbles and cross than any other player in that timeframe, and also ranks ninth for total goals, and fifth for goals and assists, once again cementing her reputation as one of the WSL’s most dangerous attacking outlets.
Individual honours
An incredibly humble and selfless character, Hemp has consistently stressed that collective achievements outweigh her individual honours.
Nonetheless, the winger has once again set the standard on several occasions in the WSL.
She finished the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons with the most assists in the league and was only one behind Kerstin Casparij and Lynn Wilms in last year’s race.
Hemp has figured in the WSL Team of the Year on three separate occasions in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2023/24, and been named PFA Young Player of the Year four times.
She achieved the latter of those in a span of just five years, winning the first in her final season at Bristol City in 2018.
The winger has more than delivered on that promise and, in 2025/26, she created the most chances (49) in the division and was the only player to record 100+ open play crosses (108), also completed the most in the division (33).
2025/26 was another special campaign for the England international, but there is an exciting feeling that the new season and beyond could promise even more from wing wizard.
