Manchester City can confirm that Naomi Layzell will wear the number 3 shirt during her time at the Club.

The young defender has joined Gareth Taylor’s City side, penning a four-year-deal at the Joie Stadium after progressing through Bristol City’s youth system and into their first-team.

As well as gaining a multitude of personal achievements at the Vixens, including receiving the 2023/24’s season Young Player of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year awards, Layzell was also an influential part of the team’s success as 2022/23 league champions in the Women’s Championship.

Layzell’s involvement as a youth international as part of the England Women’s U23s squad last season has also aided her in her senior career after allowing her the opportunity to join the Lionesses in the first team training at camp.

And now she begins her journey at City opting to wear the number 3 shirt, making her the third City player to wear it during the Club’s professional era, succeeding Demi Stokes who left the Joie Stadium this summer after an incredible nine years.

Defender Steph Marsh, was the first player to wear the number for the Club in the 2013/14 season making five appearances for City after joining from Blackburn Rovers.

Following Stokes’ departure, Layzell will now be the proud owner of the shirt number for the new campaign.
