A product of City’s Academy, the England youth international forward made her Blues debut in a 5-0 win over Paris FC in UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying in September 2024.
She would then go on to sign her first professional contract with the Club in December of the same year and scored her maiden senior goal in a 2-0 UEFA Champions League win over St Polten as her sparkling development continued.
During her breakout season for the Club, she totalled 22 appearances in all competitions which included starts in the prestigious European competition’s quarter-finals and a goal in a League Cup win over Manchester United in January 2025.
Murphy would then start Andrée Jeglertz’s first match in charge of the Blues in a WSL clash with Chelsea, but she was unfortunately forced off with an injury in the narrow defeat at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of last season.
She then slowly worked her way back to full fitness by often playing in our Next Gen fixtures and tallied five outings across our double-winning campaign in 2025/26.
Now, her development will continue at Aston Villa who finished ninth in the WSL last term.
Everyone at City would like to wish Lily the very best during her time with the Villans next season.
