City will have a record-breaking number of representatives at England's November training camp.

Twelve City stars have been selected in Phil Neville’s 29-player squad, surpassing our previous highest total of 11.

Ellie Roebuck, Steph Houghton, Demi Stokes, Esme Morgan, Jill Scott, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, Ellen White, Chloe Kelly, Lucy Bronze, Alex Greenwood and Laura Coombs have all been selected, while goalkeeper Karen Bardsley is also on standby.

The announcement sees Coombs receive her first call-up since October 2015 - testament to the midfielder’s superb form, in which she has scored three sensational goals in three games.

With a string of impressive displays, the 29-year-old has earned praise from her manager and peers in recent weeks and her efforts have been rewarded with a return to the Lionesses side.

Neville said: “This has been a challenging time for everyone, but it will be good to finish the year with an intensive training camp during which the squad will develop further and in which every player has the chance to prove themselves ahead of our upcoming major tournaments.

Laura Coombs is a player I have watched a lot this season and I have been very impressed with her progression in the game. She’s performed consistently at a high level which merits her call-up to the squad.

“This camp will give us another excellent opportunity to integrate young promising players with our experienced internationals and align everyone on the team’s long-term vision.

“Although sadly we no longer have a competitive fixture, every minute spent on the training pitch and in planning is crucial and plays an important part in preparing for the UEFA Women’s EURO.

“I want to thank our supporters for their understanding and let them know that we cannot wait to play in front of crowds again in a competitive fixture when the time is right. Rest assured when that moment comes, we’ll be giving our all to make you proud.”

England were due to play Norway on Tuesday 1 December at Bramall Lane, Sheffield - only for the game to be cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.

Instead, England will meet for the final time in 2020 to take part in a training camp at St George’s Park.

As per recent camps, the squad will be split into halves for two in-house training games.

Meanwhile, summer recruits Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle have been selected in the United States’ 23-player squad.

The World Cup winners face 2019 Finalists the Netherlands on 27 November at the Rat Verlegh Stadium in Breda.

Lavelle scored against the Dutch outfit in the World Cup Final last summer.

In City’s final game before the international break, Gareth Taylor‘s side are in action on Thursday night with our second Manchester Derby in as many games, facing Manchester United away in our final Continental Cup group stage game.

A point for will secure progression, maintaining our 100% record of reaching the knock-out stages of the competition.

Congratulations to all of our players.
