Gareth Taylor’s side will set off from 21 August to 2 September and will be joined by West Ham United, Leicester City and Paris Saint Germain in the pre-season competition.
The tournament will see two semi-finals played at HBF Park – with City locking horns with the Foxes in the last-four on Wednesday 28 August.
We will then play host to a thrilling double header of action on Sunday 1 September with a third-place play-off fixture, followed by a final fixture between the two winning sides of the semi-finals to crown the champions of the tournament.
As two mainstays of the Barclays Women’s Super League since Leicester’s promotion to the top-flight in 2021, City and the Foxes have met on numerous occasions in a variety of competitions.
Learn who has played for both clubs below ahead of our meeting in Australia this summer.
ABBIE MCMANUS
Abbie McManus totalled 111 appearances for Manchester City across two spells at the Club.
After playing for our original team between 2009 and 2013, she returned to the Blues following our professional relaunch in 2014 following after time with Sheffield FC.
The defender then helped us to six major honours – including the 2016 Barclays Women’s Super League title.
However, the first of these trophies was the 2014 Continental Cup and she scored a crucial goal in a 2-1 win over Liverpool – her maiden after her City return – before we went on to triumph over Arsenal in the final.
In total, McManus scored three goals for the Club with the other two strikes arriving in the league.
The former England international also featured for Nick Cushing’s side in a swathe of competitions – including the UEFA Champions League where she made her European debut in a 1-0 win over Fortuna Hjorring.
After a total of 12 years with City, she departed for Manchester United in 2019 before spending the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Spurs.
Then, following Leicester’s promotion to the WSL in 2021, she joined the Foxes’ ranks where she helped them maintain the top-flight status before her retirement from football in September 2023.
RUBY MACE
Following her Manchester City departure at the end of the 2023/24 season, Ruby Mace rejoined Leicester permanently after she enjoyed a productive loan spell at the King Power Stadium in 2023.
The versatile midfielder joined Gareth Taylor’s side from Arsenal in 2021 before going on to make 29 appearances for the Club in all competitions.
Last term she showed glimpses of her potential across nine outings after maturing during her temporary time with the Foxes where she made 10 appearances and helped them preserve their WSL status.
Now, she has returned to the East Midlands outfit ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
NATASHA FLINT
After progressing through our youth academy, Natasha Flint signed her first professional contract with City in March 2014.
She would go on to feature for our first-team throughout the Club’s maiden WSL campaign and her fantastic solo strike in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in the same term was nominated for the division’s Goal of the Season award.
The forward then started in our 1-0 Continental Cup final success over Arsenal in 2014 – helping the Club to our first honour since City’s professional relaunch earlier that year.
Flint would then depart at the end of the 2015 campaign before spells at Preston, Notts County, Fylde, Sheffield and Blackburn Rovers ahead of a move to Leicester in 2020.
She then helped the Foxes to promotion to the WSL in her first term before featuring regularly in the top-flight in their attack.
Since her departure from the King Power in 2023 she featured for Celtic and Liverpool ahead of a transfer to Tampa Bay Sun in June 2024.
OTHERS
Finally, both Marie Hourihan and Georgia Brougham have played for City and Leicester during their careers so far.
The former played in goal for the Blues a total of 12 times between 2016 and 2018 and was a member of the squad who won the WSL and Continental Cup in 2016 and the FA Cup in 2017.
This spell came after her year at Leicester between 2010 and 2011 and stints at Birmingham City and Chelsea.
She joined Brighton on loan from City in 2018 before making her move to the Seagulls permanently ahead of the 2018/19 term.
Broughman, a current London City Lionesses defender, advanced through City’s Academy before making her debut in a 3-0 win over Everton in September 2014.
She then started and played the full 90 minutes in our 1-0 Continental Cup final win over Arsenal ahead of signing her first professional contract in January 2015.
However, she found game time hard to come by among an excellent forward line and joined Everton permanently in February 2016.
Broughman then joined Leicester in 2021 where she remained until 2023 when she joined London City Lionesses.
