Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw has been named The Athletic Women’s Footballer of the Year after another record-breaking season for the Jamaican in sky blue.

Across 31 games in all competitions so far this season, she has bagged an impressive 26 goals. Of those strikes, 21 came in the WSL which saw her claim the Golden Boot for the third successive season, becoming the first player to do so.

And in the Blues’ 6-1 win over Aston Villa in December, she became the first City Women’s player to reach – and then surpass - 100 goals in sky blue with her four efforts against the Villans.

Her recognition at The Athletic Awards follows her being named FWA Women’s Player of the Season, Etihad Player of the Season and WSL Player of the Season.

City Head Coach Andrée Jeglertz was voted Coach of the Season after guiding us to the WSL title in his first season at the helm – something only Sonia Bompastor had previously achieved in the competition’s history.

We also finished the campaign with a 100% home league record under his stewardship – winning all 11 of our fixtures at the Joie and Etihad Stadium while scored 38 times and conceding just eight.

Finally, Aoba Fujino scooped Young Player of the Season following her fantastic campaign which saw her score six goals and register three assists in all competitions.

She also helped Japan win the Asia Cup in March alongside fellow City teammates Ayaka Yamashita, Yui Hasegawa and Risa Shimizu.

The season isn’t over for City, however, with the Blues eyeing further glory in the FA Cup final against Brighton on Sunday 31 May.

Congratulations to Bunny, Andrée and Aoba on their respective The Athletic Awards!
