The WSL’s findings were backed up by our Women’s Official Supporters Club who continuously spoke positively about the option of having alcohol in-bowl.
What This Means for Manchester City Women Supporters
Ticketholders attending Manchester City Women matches at both the Joie Stadium and Etihad Stadium will continue to have the option to consume alcohol in their seats during WSL fixtures.
The Joie Stadium’s Family Area (West Stand Blocks 1, 2 and 3) and Blocks 037- 042 at the Etihad Stadium will remain alcohol-free, giving fans the choice of a seat which appeals to them.
2026/27 Season Ticket Members who wish to relocate their seat will be able to do so following this announcement online or by contacting Fan Support on 0161 444 1894 from now until 13th July.
We ask fans to drink responsibly and help create a fantastic, welcoming atmosphere. Any unacceptable behaviour will result in ejection and a possible sanction in line with the Club’s sanctions and bans process.
Why Is This Allowed?
Unlike the men’s professional game in England, women’s football is not governed by the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985, which prohibits alcohol consumption in view of the pitch. As a result, clubs in the women’s game are permitted to allow alcohol consumption in the stands, subject to league requirements and local safety measures.
