City's Champions League group stage opponents have been confirmed following Friday's draw in Nyon.

Gareth Taylor‘s side have been placed in Group D and will face FC Barcelona, St Polten and Hammarby IF on our return to Europe’s elite competition.

We last faced Barcelona, who have won each of the last two competitions, in 2021 at the quarter-final stage.

Despite a 2-1 win at the Joie Stadium in the second leg, we were edged out 4-2 on aggregate, with the Spanish side going on to win the tournament that year.

The clash will also see Keira Walsh and Ellie Roebuck both return to face their former club for the first time having made a combined 347 appearances for City.

St. Polten earned their spot in the groups with wins in qualifying over Neftchi Baku, Vllaznia and ZNK Mura.

We last faced the Austrian side during the 2017 edition of the competition, winning 6-0 over two legs in the Round of 32.

This will be our first-ever clash with Swedish side Hammarby, who also gained passage through the qualifiers.

However, they have a familiar face in their ranks in the form of ex-City midfielder Julie Blakstad.

The draw took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and was overseen by former Germany internationals Fatmire Alushi and Nadine Kessler.

We reached the group stages with a Second Round qualifying win over Paris FC.

City took a 5-0 lead into the second leg at the Joie Stadium on Thursday evening, which we won 3-0.
