City returned to action in style following the winter break, with Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s ninth league goal of the season enough for a 1-0 victory away to West Ham in our first match of 2023.
It extended our unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 matches, and moved Taylor’s side back within touching distance of the league summit.
But our next WSL clash will be another tough ask, as we prepare to host Aston Villa in Saturday’s 11:30 (UK) kick-off.
Defeats to Arsenal and Manchester United aside, the Villans come into this weekend’s clash in impressive form and began 2023 with a 2-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.
Carla Ward’s side came out on top in the reverse fixture at Villa Park, one of only two defeats for City in the league this season.
And Saturday’s showdown is sure to be as difficult an assignment as that 4-3 loss on the opening day of the season back in September.
