Gareth Taylor’s side secured passage to the last four in style at Ashton Gate, extending our unbeaten run in all competitions to 14 matches.
Braces apiece from Hayley Raso and Lauren Hemp, as well as further strikes from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Mary Fowler set the seal on an impressive attacking display.
And there was particular cause for celebration as City hit another remarkable milestone nine years and one day after our official relaunch.
Below, you can find some of the incredible numbers behind our 702 goals to date…
361 days
On reflection, City’s 8-0 win over Nottingham Forest on 29 January 2022 was a truly memorable day for the Club.
Not only did Georgia Stanway become our record goalscorer, but her first at the City Ground also signified our 600th strike as a professional outfit.
With Gareth Taylor’s side reaching the 700-mark on 25 January 2023, it means we have hit over 100 goals in less than 12 months.
In 33 competitive fixtures since our win over Forest, we have averaged just shy of three goals per game!
Hemp heroics
Lauren Hemp’s first goal of the evening would prove to be our 700th as a Club and, incredibly, it’s not the first time she’s been the one to hit a memorable milestone.
Indeed, the winger was also the player to grab numbers 400 and 500, doing so against Brighton in 2019 and Manchester United in 2021 respectively.
She has found the net 49 times in total across her 117 appearances at City so far.
Above average
City have played 283 competitive fixtures since our relaunch in 2014, winning 207 of those encounters.
It means that, on average, we have found the net 2.48 times per game across our entire professional existence.
And if those 702 goals were to be divided equally across those nine years, then our scoring rate across a calendar year stands at an astonishing 78 in just 31.4 matches.
Largest victories
City have chalked up some incredible winning margins to help reach the 700-goal mark.
Our biggest triumph came courtesy of a 10-0 Academy Stadium triumph over Ipswich Town in the FA Cup back in February 2020, with hat-tricks for Pauline Bremer, Jess Park and Stanway adding to Laura Coombs’ early strike.
On the road, 8-0 victories over Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa stand as our largest winning margins.
