GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW
The Blues are looking to bounce back from Sunday’s loss when we tale on the Reds again at Leigh Sports Village.
Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final will kick-off at 19:00 (UK) and Taylor says there were many positives from our league clash despite the score-line.
“It’s never nice to lose a derby.,” said Taylor.
“The game was interesting because when we look back at it, between both boxes we were pretty good.
“We had a lot of chances, but issues in our build-up play, particularly from goal kicks which I think has been the staple of the way we play for many years.
“I can count on one hand the amount of times it’s gone against us. We need to be better and we will be.
“We trust in what we do and I always say I’m responsible for how we play in the good and bad times.
“To change that isn’t in my blood, it’s evident players want to come here because of our style, we don’t do it to be smart, we do it because we feel it’s productive and allows us to arrive in the final third together as a team.
“The stats between both boxes were pretty emphatic in our favour but the one massive stat was the result.
“We have an opportunity now, not to right wrongs because United deserved their moment in terms of the pressure they put on us and we needed to deal with that better.
“It’ll be a tight affair, both teams want to progress to the semis. It’s the perfect game for us, we’re excited to go there and strike back.”

LAST TIME OUT
City fell short against United last time in a 4-2 Barclays WSL defeat at the Etihad Stadium. In an eventful first-half, the visitors went into a 3-0 lead, courtesy of two goals from Ella Toone and a strike from Leah Galton.
Despite the setback, City responded with determination, narrowing the deficit before the interval through expertly placed headers from Vivianne Miedema and Rebecca Knaak.
However, Toone sealed her hat-trick shortly after the restart, bolstering Marc Skinner’s side’s lead and halting our comeback efforts.
