Mary Fowler has been shortlisted for the inaugural European Golden Girl Award.

The 19-year-old joined Manchester City this summer from French side Montpellier and is already an established Australia international despite her tender years.

Indeed, she was voted the Matildas’ PFA Young Women’s Football of the Year, while also coming second in NXGN Football’s 2022 Women’s Next Generation shortlist last March.

She has featured in all of City’s matches so far this season having made her competitive debut in a 6-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League win over WFC Tomiris-Turan.

And her exploits for both City and Montpellier, as well as the Australian national team, have seen her named among the 15-player shortlist for an award which recognises the best young talent in Europe across the year.

That list will be cut down to ten players on 15 October, where the final vote will be cast by a jury of football journalists.

Congratulations to Mary on being shortlisted for the award!
