A new date for Manchester City’s Continental Cup trip to Leicester has been confirmed.

Gareth Taylor’s side will now travel to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday 17 December, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 (UK).

The clash with the Foxes represents our third and final group game of the 2022/23 campaign, after our success over Blackburn Rovers Ladies and our upcoming meeting with Liverpool on Wednesday 7 December.

And we made the perfect start to our defence of the trophy with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Rovers at the Academy Stadium in October.

Braces from Mary Fowler and Julie Blakstad added to Hayley Raso and Vicky Losada strikes earned us three points on matchday one.

Our last encounter with Leicester ended in a 4-0 City victory at home, which saw us record our first league victory of the season.

Khadija Shaw bagged two goals either side of Lauren Hemp’s effort, before Yui Hasegawa capped off a memorable day by netting on her debut.

City have won the Conti Cup on four occasions, with the latest coming last season as we battled back from a goal down to complete a 3-1 victory over Emma Hayes’s side.

CITY V UNITED: ETIHAD DERBY

City welcome Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 11 December.

Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 (UK), with tickets selling fast for our third-ever women’s match at the Etihad.

We hosted Everton there back in May 2014, before welcoming our local rivals in September 2019, when Caroline Weir’s wonder strike saw us run out 1-0 winners in front of what was then a WSL record crowd, and what remains a club record of 31, 213 fans.

With over 30,000 tickets already sold, it promises to be another historic occasion.
