Perhaps City’s finest performance of the 2022/23 campaign, Gareth Taylor’s side blew the reigning Barclays Women’s Super League champions away at the Joie Stadium.
Angeldahl’s stunning strike opened the scoring just after the 20-minute mark, with Hemp doubling the advantage with a stunning half-volley just before the break.

In the upcoming CITY+ feature, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at last season, the duo reveal what was going through their heads when they each got themselves on the scoresheet.
“Filippa’s goal, what a strike,” Hemp recalls.
“As soon as I passed it to her, I told her to shoot. She took a glance to me and was like ‘what are you on about’?”
For Angeldahl’s watching the ball hit the back of the net was a special feeling.
She added: “I heard ‘shoot’ and was like ‘okay, I’ll do it’.
“It was an amazing feeling. I’d been waiting so long for my first goal in the league, so it was amazing.”
Gareth Taylor’s side had shown we could mix it with the best that the WSL has to offer in front of over 5,000 spectators at the Joie Stadium.
It was City’s first league win over Emma Hayes’ side since 2017, with Hemp at the centre of that success.
Looking back at her decisive goal on that day, the winger believes the result and performance were an indication of what this team can achieve in the future.
“I feel like it just fell so nicely that I thought, ‘why not’? I was grateful that Coombsy [Laura Coombs] dropped it into my path,” Hemp recalls.
“That was a fantastic game, it felt like it all just came together against Chelsea.
“We were dominant. We know when we play our best football, nobody can beat us.”
