Manchester City are excited to announce the signing of Republic of Ireland defender Tara O'Hanlon.

Born in Dublin, the versatile 18-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a deal which keeps her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.

O’Hanlon played for Bohemians during the 2020 U17 Women’s National League season and moved to Peamount United U17s in 2021.

The teenager enjoyed a breakout senior campaign in 2022, where she made a total of 27 league and cup appearances, scoring four times.

In the following season, she would help Peamount finish as League of Ireland champions, with 2023 also seeing her make her senior international debut against the USA in an April friendly.

Speaking about the move, she said: “I’m really excited to be here at City and I’m buzzing to get started.

“After winning the league with Peamount, I felt I was ready to try and make the step up to the WSL.

“I’m young, so hopefully I can come in and work hard over the next couple of months. I will do my best to try and earn a place in the team.”

Head Coach Gareth Taylor added: “Tara is a talented young player.

“She’s clearly someone who is hungry to learn and continuously improve, and she will undoubtedly have the opportunity to develop at City with the team she will have around her.”

Everyone at Manchester City would like to congratulate Tara on her move and wish her every success during her time here at the Club.
